Author biography

Kelly Daly Flynn struggled through the science world of chemistry and engineering, but kept hitting roadblocks due to mental health issues. Bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, untreated ADD (no H) and substance use disorder all contributed to a scattered employment history. She has made strides in activism for mental health issues through giving speeches, talking about mental health with friends, family and coworkers and serving as Board Chair of the Oakland Community Health Network SUD policy board

Kelly earned her PhD from the University of Michigan and a Masters from Oakland University which provides the trained eye of a researcher to filter through scientific research/studies and interpret with neutrality. Having published research and a patent in addition to presentations to all levels of knowledge, from elementary school students through experienced researcher and upper management, she has a strong ability to relate confusing articles to a wide audience.

Book Origins

Having left her last job due to health issues caused by stress and lack of satisfaction, Kelly decided to expand on her activism by sharing a solution that calmed her racing mind: MindlessnessX. While dabbling in meditation and mindfulness, her ability to maintain focus was limited to about 30 seconds. There had to be a better way, a way for anyone to achieve calm without overloading cognitive skillset or abilities.

To some, people engaged in mindfulness appear to be wasting time, as if they are behaving mindlessnessly. You're not supposed to think during the sessions, right?? Becoming obsessed with crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, the realization hit her: these activities are mindless but with a goal, and require using your brain. Why not make a method of the concept and share with others?

Currently she is building a platform and putting together a nonfiction book proposal. Follow her on various social media applications for more information.
